Director, Financial Aid

About the Position
Jacksonville State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Financial Aid beginning Fall 2018. This is a full-time position in JSU's Financial Aid Department, reporting to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management.
The Director of Financial Aid assists the University in achieving its vision and mission of student enrollment, retention and success by providing leadership and oversight of the administration, application, award, and reporting of all Federal, State, Institution, and Agency student financial aid programs and associated funds and services to students attending Jacksonville State University. The DFA also assures compliance with all federal, state, agency, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of:
Philosophy and implementation of an enrollment management model at a university and how the financial aid operation may support this institutional model
University and Division's mission, goals, and expectations
University policies, rules, and regulations
Division/Department policies, procedures, functions, and related regulations, as well as organizational relationships
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, and social-media web platform
Administrative Banner
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other relevant local, state and federal educational and privacy laws
Federal Financial Aid Policies, rules, and regulations
All aspects of financial aid processing and aid distribution
Financial aid function and the administration of such function
Planning, implementation, and monitoring of budgets
Strong analytical skills

Monitoring and assessment skills to help ensure necessary enhancements and/or corrective action

Ability to:
Develop and monitor a financial aid function plan within the University Enrollment Management Plan, including the EM services budget, and related personnel matters
Effectively merge traditional and evolving enrollment strategies in order to both recruit and retain qualified students
Work effectively with diverse populations
Analyze and present complex issues to a diverse group of professionals
Understand the academic environment, relate well to faculty, and articulate effectively the institution's mission and vision, values and priorities
Develop, use, and monitor assessment initiatives using enrollment management services and planning models
Utilize social-media strategies to enhance financial aid and recruitment efforts
Engage other members of the campus community, including faculty, coaches, and alumni, in recruitment efforts
Make decisions where precedents may not be established
Develop and maintain professional work relationships with administrators, co-workers, faculty, students, and the general JSU community

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a related field and five years of experience in student financial aid that gives evidence of steadily increasing levels of responsibility required. Prior leadership roles in financial aid administration preferred.

Jacksonville State University (JSU) is a regional public coeducational university located in Jacksonville, Alabama. Founded in 1883, Jacksonville State offers programs of study in five academic units leading to Bachelor's, Master's, Education Specialist, and Doctorate in addition to continuing and distance education programs. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
